Off-Grid

(aka stand-alone or autonomous power) systems typically involve a PV array and/or wind turbine and/or generator to charge a battery bank. A system involving more than one (1) charging source is referred to as a Hybrid Power System. The battery bank may then directly power DC loads and/or AC loads simultaneously via an inverter/charger.

Many cottages in Canada do not have access to grid power, and thus stand alone renewable power systems are a good alternative to noisy, polluting fossil fuel generators.
