Matrix Energy is pleased to announce the installation and commissioning of a 5.5 kW micro-hydro turbine in collaboration with one of our Montreal regional distributors. The turbine was installed in an Outfitter north of Chicoutimi where Hydro-Qc is not an option. With a head of 104ft and roughly 9litre per second, a micro-hydro turbine was the perfect solution. The new owner of the turbine was pleased to see three full size refrigerators, main lodge lighting and washing machine all powered directly by the turbine with available excess power for small power tools and for charging a separate battery bank. For any remote residence or outfitter that has a water source nearby with a minimum of 15m of head, micro-hydro systems are the most cost effective means of producing your own power.
